Scope Of Application

KW is designed for all kinds of motors below 1.5 horsepower, fan motors, washing machines and other small home appliances, transformers, ballasts, battery packs, glue machines, solenoids, electric heating appliances, etc. It can be used as a self-resetting thermal circuit breaker (2B type), motor thermal protector (3C type) and ballast thermal protector.

Design Principle

KW has a simple structure design, consisting of strip-shaped high-sensitivity bimetallic elements, moving contacts, static contacts, temperature-resistant wires, etc. The bimetal element is fixed on the bottom plate, in a fixed state, the moving contact and the static contact piece are closed, and the circuit is conducted. When the electrical appliance heats up for some reason, and the temperature rises to the rated operating temperature of the product, the bimetallic element is heated to produce internal stress and act quickly. The moving contact is pushed to disconnect the contact, cut off the power supply, and the electrical appliance stops working. To overheat protection. When the temperature of the protected electrical appliance drops to the product's rated reset temperature value, the bimetallic element returns to its original state and the movable contact is closed, and the electrical appliance resumes operation. The protection function of the product can be divided into two types: normally open type and normally closed type, that is, when the temperature reaches the design value, the circuit is turned on and the circuit is turned off.


KW can be directly connected to the windings, and can also be installed outside the resin-sealed motor by clamping or inserting. It can directly cut off the circuit. Since the trip time of cutting off the power supply depends on the working temperature of the KW thermal protector, the temperature class should be selected correctly, and the model that matches the motor can be selected by referring to the performance curve.

Due to the use of a metal shell, the KW protector has stronger mechanical strength and can be covered with an insulating sheath to insulate the metal parts of the motor.
